LA MASCOTA CABERNET SAUVIGNON - Awarded best red wine in the world - Argentine wine continues to add adepts in the world. This time, for the first time in history, the contest of the Union of Winemakers of France awarded the best red wine in the world to an Argentine Cabernet. More than 130 juries blindly tasted more than 3 thousand bottles from 40 countries. From Argentina, 9 wines won a gold medal and another 18 won silver.

It is not the first time that an Argentine wine is awarded abroad: Malbec is already known in European competitions. But the novelty was the distinction in Paris for a local cabernet. The award was for La Mascota Cabernet Sauvignon 2016. This wine is the creation of Mendoza winemaker Rodolfo "Opi" Sadler, had a production of 700 thousand bottles.

This recognition is historic because it is the first distinction to an Argentine Cabernet worldwide. Thus, Argentina shares the podium with Germany, for the Best White, Limburg Grauer Burgunder Spätlese 2016 from winery Sasbacher Winzerkeller, and France, for its Rosado Chateau Laurens 2017 Sas Les Domaines, by Montariol Degroote.
